Are you on this great adventure with the Holy Spirit, Jesus and God?! How are you seeking the kingdom of God?

So what is the kingdom of God?

Simply put the kingdom of God is the territory in which God has dominion. It outlines the area where God has dominion or reigns. God extends his reign on Earth through people who have chosen to follow him. (Christians)

As God’s followers we extend the reign of God into our everyday lives we are his representatives on Earth.

What does seeking the kingdom of God look like?

I host a podcast Faith Horizons that is specific to this topic, it is all about discovering the kingdom of God in this city where I live, Kansas City to be exact. I am literally interviewing people of God’s kingdom commonly referred to as Christians.

The podcast is charting out the kingdom of God in Kansas City learning about the many different missions that make up the plans of God in this city. God has a plan and an idea for everything and as his people we are invited to partner with him in accomplishing the dreams of God.

What I discovered through seeking first the kingdom of God

  • God plans are Specific: God picks specific people locations and ways to accomplish his objectives. To learn more about the specifics of God check out my interview with Joy Marie of Freedoms Bridge https://faithhorizons.com/what-is-freedoms-bridge/

  • Big Impact: The kingdom plans are multi layered and impact all parties and locations involved. Check out my interview with Ray Maybion https://faithhorizons.com/serving-kansas-city-since-1984/

  • All Spheres: The kingdom of God is found in all aspects of life, family, schools, business, etc.. I have had many interviews with my good friend Scott Stanger who is a marketplace leader in Kansas City. Check out an interview with Scott https://faithhorizons.com/gods-relay-race/ or an interview with Mike Farmer who helps with Re-Entry after jail https://faithhorizons.com/planning-for-life-after-incarceration/

  • United: The kingdom of God is united! God’s people may be on different missions of God, but the overall objectives are the same. Take the lords prayer for instance Thy kingdom come thy will be done, that very much is the intent and purpose of His kingdom people.

  • Cities were God’s Idea First: You read through the bible verses such as Hebrews 11:10 and you realize that God was the one who intended and planned for cities from the beginning. Cities allow for multiple different practices to work together to produce at a greater capacity than if they were separated. I am confident the entire intents and purposes of all cities is to maximize the glory brought to God.

Is Proverbs 25:2 Applicable Here?

Verse: It is the glory of God to conceal a matter and the glory of kings to search it out.

Yes, I think seeking first the kingdom of God is another way of pursuing this verse. There is intent behind God hiding things for us to work hard to figure out and find.

Take these verses in Mathew13:44-46
The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in the field, which a man found and hid again; and from joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking fine pearls, and upon finding one pearl of great value, he went and sold all that he had and bought it.

God loves to play hide and seek with His kids, its one of his favorite games!
